This is the exact problem I have too. Were you able to fix it somehow? It's driving me crazy!
Has there been any updates for a solution to this?
Reloaded the save before the tea drinking cut scene and that reset the ball somehow. I'm guessing since the door is opened after the cut scene the game forces the door open if it was closed before it so maybe that flips one of the balls out. If you don't have the save still try and restart the game or switch planets.
