Download Issues - Jedi Survivor (Help!)

Hello,

I recently decided to subscribe to EA Play Pro mainly to play Jedi Survivor. For almost a week now I have been struggling with a myriad of download issues (most likely related to the EA App) which I NEVER encountered back when I had Origin. To name some of these issues:

1- Download abruptly stops after a couple of hours due to an unknown error and you have to manually click resume (I live in a country with slow download speed, so theoretically a massive 130GB game like Jedi Survivor would take between 70-80 hrs of download time). I always try to download all of my games at night (best speed + laptop not used for work). With Jedi Survivor this has been a real struggle.

2-After reaching 80Gb+ of downloaded game data (around 65%), pausing the download and resuming it at a later time would inexplicably bring it back to 70GB (55%), which is absolutely baffling. Where did those 10 GB of downloaded game data go? This has happened three times now (twice back when the download progress was at 40%, pausing the download at 40% would inexplicably bring it back to 33%)

3!!!-Today was the final straw. Last night before going to bed the game had reached 75GB (again). When I woke up today the download was paused for some reason due to some unknown error, the downloaded game data 71.1GB, and clicking on resume would lead to a never endling loop of preparing/checking/downloading (for 2 seconds)/then preparing again. Restarting the PC didn't work. Checking online, the only solution that came up was clearing the cache for the app. Which I did. But when I relaunched the app I noticed that there was nothing in the download manager. Is there a way for the app to recognize/verify the files downloaded so far? Origin had that, but don't know how to do it in the EA App. Please help, I really don't want to re-download those 70 GBs, not when it's likely that I will encounter the same issues/bugs again. I have already wasted a week of my subscription, if this continues I am definitely canceling my EA Play Pro subs next month (truly a nightmarish experience).

  • Out of curiosity - What download/upload speed do you get when you run an internet speed test?

That 70 hours of download is concerning. If you haven't already, you will see numerous posts on the internet (at large) about FTP programs having difficulty with large files and limited bandwidth.

Probably best we take a look at what your set up looks like - please post a DXDIAG report.

I'm assuming you've already confirmed you have plenty of space on the drive you're using to install the game.

Q: Out of curiosity - What download/upload speed do you get when you run an internet speed test?

A: Between 600 - 700 KB/s Download speed on EA App, Internet Spped is 4.8MBps according to Fast.com

Q: That 70 hours of download is concerning. If you haven't already, you will see numerous posts on the internet (at large) about FTP programs having difficulty with large files and limited bandwidth.

A: I never previously had any download issues with Origin (Longtime member), or with the other game launchers like Epic games store and Steam etc (same Download speed, and same PC). Some massive games I previously downloaded via Origin with no issues: Battlefront 2, Anthem, Mass Effect Andromeda etc to name a few

Q:Probably best we take a look at what your set up looks like - please post a DXDIAG report.

A: I really don't see how this could lead to fixing anything, I am used to downloading my games on my non-gaming laptop during the night before moving them on my gaming desktop. Literally been doing this for a decade for hundreds of games without any issue (my gaming desktop has a GTX 1080, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 16GB Ram, and runs most new games on medium/high 60fps on 1080p without any issues. I recently played Resident evil 4 on very high settings with stable 60fps on 1080p and cool temps)

Q:I'm assuming you've already confirmed you have plenty of space on the drive you're using to install the game.

A: I do have around 150 GB of Free space, you literally can't start downloading the game via the EA app if you don't have enough disk space.

    > What I need atm is for the EA app to recognize the files it already downloaded (the 70GBs) and resume that download. How can I make the EA app recognize pre-existing game files ? (Or in my case downloaded files). I used to do it all  the time on Origin. After I encountered Bug #3, I clicked  on "Experiencing Download Issues > Get Help" and the first and only solution they suggested was clear cache. After clearing cache and relaunching the EA app the download progress for Jedi Survivor disappeared from Download manager. If I wanted to restart the download from scratch I would have done so. This was clearly not a helpful solution, with barebones info on what it entails.
