Game crashes every few minutes since Patch 5 and 6

As the title says. Since Patch 5, the game has constantly crashed a few minutes after loading in. I had hoped Patch 6 would resolve it, but it is exactly the same.

No error code is appearing when it crashes, it is just hard crashing. Task manager says its using 100% of my memory though.

I have a Ryzen 5 3600, RTX 3060 12gb, 16gb DDR4 3200mhz RAM.

Lowering video settings did not make a difference. It has done it on both Jedha and Koboh, and it has done it when im idling, exploring or even just using the work bench.

@skitzbuckethatz  I didn't realize you were seeing the out of video memory error, which is, surprisingly, quite common on GPUs with maybe 12 GB VRAM and up.  Some of the affected players have reported that disabling Raytracing helps.  Even if you shouldn't have to, it's an interim workaround that might make the game playable again.

Other players have said that increasing the system's page file size to an extreme number helps.  I'm not sure what that number would be for you, and it would eat up some of the space you freed up, but it's worth testing.  Try 30 GB and see how long you can play, and if it doesn't help or you don't want to keep using that setting, revert to your previous value or to letting Windows manage the size.  Here's a guide in case it helps (option one):

If these steps don't make a difference, it's also worth lowering the refresh rate of your monitor to 60 Hz.  I understand you wouldn't want to give up the higher fps, but this is useful data either way.  If it helps, try 120 or 144 Hz and see where it gets you.

I've read most but not all of the posts in the master thread for the out of video memory issue, so if you want to go looking for more suggestions, here it is:

    Thanks for posting that.

If you look at the bottom of the DXDIAG report, you will see multiple issues that you want to look into. The most prominent is a memory leak for multiple programs you are running.

Make sure your memory is on the supported list for your CPU and motherboard and the speed in BIOS matches the supported speed for your CPU and motherboard. If XMP is on, turn it off while troubleshooting.

  • The CPU, Motherboard and RAM are all compatible. I know that XMP is on though.

The memory leak has been apparent on my system while playing Survivor since the game released, however it was not causing any crashes to begin with. I played for 45 hours before patch 5 with only one game crash. Since Patch 5, there has been upward of 10, in a couple hours of gameplay.

How can disabling XMP can help?

You have memory issues and it's not just with Jedi Survivor.

Research/resolve the issues showing up at the bottom of the report.

@skitzbuckethatz  One thing that should be pointed out is that your C drive has very little space left.  8 GB is enough for Windows to maneuver under normal circumstances, but it can prevent updates, and your dxdiag lists some failed Windows updates.  Additionally, games and other demanding applications can create large temp files that eat up that free space quickly.  So the crashing might be partially or completely due to the lack of free storage.

Try to shift whatever you can to B or D, ideally at least another 15 GB or so, leaving 25+ GB free on C.  If necessary, you can move one or more user directories (Documents, Pictures, etc.) to another drive; this is supported by Windows.  (If you need help with the process, just ask.)  Restart your computer, and manually run Windows updates, under Settings > Update & Security.  If anything fails to install, please say so.  Then try again to play.

@DarthFDG  A RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error means that Windows has detected that an application isn't managing its memory use properly.  It normally has nothing to do with the memory modules themselves or whether they're overclocked.

  • I have freed up 40gb of my C drive. The game was playable for maybe 10 minutes this time, but it crashed saying it ran out of video memory again ☹️

I have done many disk cleanups, updated all drivers, checked for memory leaks, and updated windows (nothing failed)... I dont know what else to do at this stage.

And like I mentioned, the game ran flawlessly until patch 5. One crash over 45 hours of gameplay.

  • I think the pagefile did it. I set it to 25gb for all three of my drives. It was already 12 for the drive it is installed on, so either that one doubling or increasing it for my C drive worked.
