It is not possible for the EA app to suddenly unlink and relink itself to another Steam account, without any user input.
Unfortunately, it is also not possible to recover any lost in-progress, because the in-game progression for the game is stored locally on your system (and later backed up into the cloud for that system).

This has happened to me as well, after an update I kept getting a message about corrupted cloud data, unlike the previous poster I haven't attempted to link it to anything else. But now all my progress, 60 hours worth is lost. I want my money back and will never give another penny to EA.
The EA app has been garbage since it rolled out, I've had issues with painfully slow download/update speeds, crashes and now this.
