Went to the same spot mentioned and sure enough, scavenger droid was there. Always respawns but never drops anything when killed.

I am also experiencing the 99/100 issue with the bugged scavenger droid in the Basalt Rift. For those who think they know the answer, it is not the Nekko shard that is missing. This appears to be a bug with that particular scavenger droid.
