My Xbox Elite V1 Controller does not work wired or wireless and my wired Xbox 360 Controller does not work.
I can at least say, that my PS4 controller works in the game... but I don't like playing with that one. :D

I was able to get this working finally somewhat following the path of @Comister. Again, I am using an Elite v2 wirelessly and playing through the EA App. What I did was:
Device Manager => View => Show hidden Devices => Scroll to Xbox 360 Peripherals => Disable Xbox 360 Controller => Reboot PC
I am now able to use the rest of the buttons in game. Hopefully this helps someone else.

I have been playing using my wired 360 controller, and it's been fine. However, the A button is sticky so I decided to plug in my Switch Pro controller. It is experiencing the same problem as described by everyone else here. Joysticks work, but none of the buttons. I also tried setting it up as xinput in steam, and it didn't change anything.
For now I'll either go back to the 360 controller or try one of my PS4 controllers.
