Problem fixed, seems my account was set in a "dormant" state as per EA chat rep. They unlinked my account and I just had to press the install button on the Xbox app again, enter my EA app credentials and relink the two.
How did you chatted with an EA rep?

Click on "Change Topic"
Then when the next window opens up click on "See all help topics"
Then click on "I need help logging in to my EA account on Xbox"
Then click on "Chat with us" (however minutes wait)"
Give it some explanations, maybe a screenshot or two, and just wait until someone comes on in that window. It'll be taken care of.
