I started the game when it initially released but put it down for a while because the performance was so bad. I probably had around ~15 or so hours in before I picked it back up after the pro release.
I see a reddit post describing the exact same thing for Pro. Clearly its broken and they know it/dont care

Bizarre update..... (thanks for the suggestion though!)
I tried doing this and it temporarily works. Im talking like 2-5 seconds of working. After that time it goes back to the same behavior where I cannot deal or take damage from melee attacks(anything with a lightsaber, or force use against enemies or the environment).
What makes this more infuriating is that I can also not use my lightsaber to block laser blasts and the trying to trigger the temp fix is super clunky since enemy movements do not stop when accessing the map.
What usually happens when trying to trigger the very temporary fix is I get with hit a melee or blast, fall down then the time table for it to works lapses. How can a company like EA release something this busted and not fix asap!!!
It allowed me to use itas long as its done within that 2-5 seconds of going to the Galaxy menu then back to the game. The crazy thing is the issue only occurs on Koboh for me. If I goto a different planet, things seem to be working fine. The problem is the main campaign is on Koboh right now
Another strange thing is Koboh (usually) doesnt even allow me to place a beacon. It seems to be part of the same bug that the removal of beacons temporarily fixes. I am going to try fast traveling to another planet after triggering the temp fix.
Sorry to insist but did you remove the beacon you just set or ALL of the beacons?.
I also experienced that temporarily return of the force when coming back from the map and deleting ALL of the beacons fixed the whole set of problems.
I tried both removing all beacons and removing only the beacon I just placed. I run into an issue most times where the game will not allow me to place a beacon anywhere on Koboh. That happens 90% of the time. The other 10% it actually allows me to place one on the current map, I remove it/all, goto the Galaxy map, then back to the game.
From there I will have approximately 2-5 seconds where my lightsaber can hit enemies, force powers work on enemies or the environment, Marrins Charm works, and now what I have discovered wall running.
After that brief time, none of the above works on enemies or the environment.
For the 90% of the time the game doesnt allow me to place a beacon on Koboh, I will goto the Galaxy map, select another planet, place a beacon there then remove all. The end result is the same 2-5 seconds of abilities working.
