Will Jedi: Survivor run only on the EA App on PC?

Up until this moment I've used Origin to play Jedi: Fallen Order and Battlefront II, but I've just received the infamous notification to replace Origin with the EA App. I've heard and read only bad things about the way the EA App works (or doesn't), and I've discovered a seemingly easy way to make the EA App notification go away from Origin so that I can still use it unhindered. I would like to know if, when purchased from the EA website, Jedi: Survivor will run on Origin or if I'll eventually need to install the EA App to play it. Thank you!

    Hello @Roebuckhartstag,

no, you can easily play through Steam - you will however also need the EA app. The issue discussed here was that Origin has been replaced through the EA app and if someone was happier with not using Steam, they don't have to buy it twice by getting a refund.

The game can be played on Steam and the EA app - only Origin does not work any more, as it's been completely replaced by the EA app for Windows now.

Regarding your issue with the launching of Fallen Order, please open a new thread, where someone can help you with this issue - while there are different reasons for this kind of issue, it is often solvable. I suggest running Steam as Admin as example, and to put the EA app, and the game as an exception in your Antivirus. This could help with your problem regarding the error message. As this thread is about a different inquiry from your technical issue, I would however request you open a new thread.

If you bought a game through Steam, you will have to refund the game through their services, as EA does not have access to Steam data and sales.

  • that would not be any problem if that app of urs (EA-Play) would work!

But you guys have managed that people can't run the game anymore, this is really frustrating because as you said you want everyone to play via ea-play but then we can expect it to work then.. but for many people it does't anymore.

    Hello everyone,

I understand that this is a frustrating situation, and it's valid to voice your complaints about it.

As you are experiencing yourself, there are quite a few issues with how the EA app can interact with a player's PC - this is not the fault of the player and there is no intention of pushing the fault on the player. The issues are continuously being worked on by the EA app team, but in the meantime, the Support, both through EA Support and here on the forum, have to help players through troubleshooting - as we personally cannot do anything to change the EA app, we have to figure out what part of the PC makes the EA app not function. That information can then be forwarded to the team, so they can work on the EA app.

Therefore, while the troubleshooting might make some people think we are trying to blame them and their PC on it, it's actually more about searching for the fault in relation to the EA app.

Regarding your issues with the game, would you please provide some details about what specifically are the issues you are experiencing? I can try and help you get Jedi: Survivor to work.

  • There is a really simple solution to make everyone happy, get rid of the EA App.  No one likes it, no one wants it, it only makes playing the games a pain in the a$$, and does absolutely nothing to improve anything.  People are already buying it through Steam, so EA is already paying Valve the fee to sell through Steam, EA gains absolutely nothing by forcing this broken app on people.  No one is ever going to use it to buy anything and there is nothing that Steam doesn't already do that a EA App could do any better or any different.  The EA completely broke my ability to play fallen order on PC, it worked perfectly fine until the EA App was forced.  I was lucky in that I only paid $7 for it on a sale on Steam, I'd never buy anything direct through the EA App.  I don't think I would buy anything after this from EA anyway.  I am trying to play Jedi Survivor and everything is fine except the stupid EA App, it is pointless and only makes the game run worse somehow.

  • I've been using my controller to play Jedi Fallen Order on PC without any error via Steam client.

Now, the EA app, is crushing it, I wasn't be able to play Jedi Survivor with the controller even when Steam recognized it, but, once launched the Jedi Survivor it only works with keyboard+mouse, and if I try, again, with Jedi Fallen Order now doesn't work.

Can you, please, solve these problems with th EA app, or give us the possibility to disable, a parameter to avoid using it if it isn't possible for the client to work fine.
