Can't change my SWTOR graphics options

Hello.

Several problems has just recently appeared with my graphics quality, when playing SWTOR. I am experiencing the following problems:

1) The game experience is laggy. This is also a problem on lowest possible graphic options.

2) When I try to change graphics options, the game software and computer freeze. The screen also go black, when I do the following:

In "preferences" -> "graphics" -> I choose any graphics option -> pressing "apply" -> a box with the options "keep changes" or "revert" comes up with a countdown -> swtor and my computer freezes and/or the screen goes black for a moment -> graphic changes appears unchanged.

3) Screen resolution is at lowest resolution in-game (800 x 600), while recomended settings for my computer is 1366 x 768. This not a big problem, but I suspect it is related to my problems above.

These problems only appeared a few days ago. I have not had any problems with this on this computer (HP Pavilion) or the computer I had before (Dell). I understand I can't play with highest quality graphics, but at least expect to be able to change the my options.

I have done the following:

1) Reinstalled the game three times.

2) Tried to adjust settings on my AMD Radeon graphics card.

3) I am considering re-installing my computer, even though I don't have any other issues.

My computer have the following tech-specs:

  • Operative system: Windows 10 Home
  • Processor: AMD A8-6410 APU
  • Graphics card: AMD Radeon R5 Graphics 2.00 GHz
  • RAM: 8,00 GB (6,94 GB usable)
  • System type: 64-bits operative system, x64-based processor

Have never experienced this problem before. I am not sure if this is an issue caused by the SWTOR-software or causes related to my own computer. In any case, I fail to see how this issue may have appeared.

I love the game and is desperate for a solution. Just bought this computer a year ago. I hope I don't have to buy a new one over this.

    Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time 

    Copy the following in to the text box and press ok 

    %localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings

    Right mouse click on the settings folder , untick read only and click apply

    See if this helps

    Can also go into the settings folder

    open client_settings in notepad and

     

    Check NativeHeight, NativeWidth, Height and Width ( all 4 ) match your monitor resolution.

    Save and close the file.
    Start the game as normal.

    No need to be sorry ,

    Ensure the game shortcut is running as administrator

    Run a game repair just in case

    Non-Streaming launcher - Log into the launcher but don't click Play. Check for small letters "ST" in the bottom left corner.
    If this is NOT present, click the cog icon and then run the repair option.
    Streaming launcher - If the letters "ST" is present, close the launcher, right mouse click on the game shortcut,
    select open file location and delete the BitRaider folder. Then start the launcher

    Can you post a dxdiag if a repair has no affect

    Hello

    The problem seems to be related to my Windows 10 upgrade, and/or the effect this upgrade have on my graphics card.

    As mentioned above, I reinstalled the game three times. This did not solve the problem.

    In desperation, I the went on to reinstall my computer, and reverted my computer to factory settings. I then installed Windows 8, before reinstalling SWTOR. Suddenly, the game works fine. I could even change graphic settings without any problems.

    Getting curious, I the reverted my computer back to factory settings and installed Windows 10. My graphics problems with SWTOR was suddenly back.

    Fustrated, I again reverted the computer back to factory settings and installed Windows 8. SWTOR is installed and works fine again.

    I am now running Windows 8 permanent until the issue have been resolved.

    For me, this seems to confirm that there are graphics issues with SWTOR running on Windows 10. Why and how, I am not competent to assess.

    Have anyone else experienced this or anything similar?

    On my computer I can not play SWTOR with Windows 10 installed. I think this is a big issue I hope will get adressed by the developers of SWTOR, Microsoft and AMD.

    Would appreciate feedback on this issue. Am I the only one experiencing this issue?!

    Hello again

    Sending you my dxdiag after installing Windows 8.

    I have to reinstall WIndows 10 if you want a dxdiag for that as well.

    Feels a bit challenging for me. Think three reinstalations of Windows is enough for one week (if something should go wrong).

    I have installed Win10, and SWTOR is performing bad as expected.

    Hopefully an updated Radeon driver will fix my problems in the future. Can always hope.

    If not I will give your solution a try.
