Characters missing when logging in through steam.

The launcher used with steam is the same launcher outside steam
try
start the swtor launcher via steam and untick remember username , close the launcher and to be sure close steam then go to swtor.com and use the unlink feature , then log back into steam start the swtor launcher and enter the correct username , see if that works
edit - just to be clear when you login to swtor.com to use the unlink it needs to be the name without the underscore as that is the account linked at present
