EA Linking Inscrutability

How do,

Seen a bit of this online hereabouts but my experience may be different enough to make this why it's not working out for me. Been away for ages, thought I'd pop back in for a look since there's finally a Mac client. Better late than never, eh? But there's trouble as soon as I try to resubscribe.

My account for SWTOR and EA share the same addy. Recently logged into both, all work.

But there's no indication that my SWTOR knows about EA and vice versa. To quote someone well known in these here parts, would it help if I got out and pushed?

The pathway to resolving this is a bit opaque. All I'm trying to do is pay for a sub. It's hard to figure why when both match, this false positive is pointed at as to why.

Support that requires a paid sub - which can't be reactivated for unknowable reasons - a bit of a catch 22. Anyone here that can shed useful light that helps me resolve things, many thanks.

  • EA account linkage is done on the creation of the swtor account see this guide

a linked ea account can be disabled due to no usage in cases like this a password reset can restore functionality

  • Thanks for the reply!

Conceptually, I get what you're saying, but I'm still baffled by how this works or should look in practice.

Recently checked out both accounts. Both are pointed to the same email. It's like there ought to be a toggle on the EA one that says "notice my SWTOR account" but there's nothing.

No indication that I even have one there. Is this usual? I thought that would be the one I'd expect to just know and show me what I've got. I can only compare it with myself, obviously!

Given how recently I went through the EA password change rigamarole, I don't expect that this solution will work. I've already done it, you know? I guess this is just some weird marginal case.

That said, would it make any difference if I reset my SWTOR password? I haven't done that, so it might be worth a try. If that changes nothing, I'm just gonna accept that I'll make do without a sub.

Really can't see why EA think that this approach to support is the way to go. It hardly inspires confidence!

  • Yep, tried changing my SWTOR password. No difference. Okay, either someone at EA will get involved or they will not have this Founder resub. All's good, I think this is just one of those things.

Using  the same email address doesn't create a linkage , each account can have different email addresses and remain linked if the account was created prior to 25th June 2019.

Best to call swtor support to get sorted, otherwise new account and playing Wow are your remaining options

Calling the States for something that the site ought to fix seems like quite an ask, when it's their stuff that's out of whack. Warcraft ain't for me, and a new account just ain't gonna happen. I guess I'll sit this dance out. Thanks for the suggestions, a pity EA ain't interested in helping but whatever their motivations they do not seem responsive in ways other firms in similar circumstances are. C'est la vie!
