Error 208 SWTOR (02/17/16)

Can't log-in due to error 208.

I have tried doing most of the recommended fixes/solutions found in different forums online, but I still can't log-in from my launcher.

- Added launcher and swtor.exe as an exception in my anti-virus firewall.

- Did an ipconfig /flushdns.

- Deleted BitRaider from my documents folder.

- Restarted my router and reconnected.

- Ran a complete virus scan.

- Did a clean-up of my C:/.

- Restarted my computer.

- Uninstalled the game and tried installing it again, which made it worse.

Hoping for your quick response.

    @ChrisPaulGuill

    In the very short term you could try to use www.hotspotshield.com free , if it triggers the launcher login ok, you will be able to at least start the game download.

    uninstall this VPN once its sorted , it will offer ads without paying but just close the window on it and download the game.

    obviously if it doesn't help at present just uninstall it , this is a popular VPN to use though.

    What Antivirus and Firewall ?

    208 is a communication error so re-install is usually not the way to go

    in your web browser can you download this file from manifest.swtor.com ?

    also can you download this repair utility from the CDN ?  ( please follow the directions here for that file to restore the launcher to the new version )

    in the game folder is a log folder with dated log files can you attach the latest one

    Thank you for the quick response. Sorry for the trouble. I am quite ignorant of troubleshooting like this, so I just followed whatever steps I could find online to fix it as soon as I can. My anti-virus is McAfee. I followed the steps you gave me and the following came out:

    - I installed the Launcher Repair Utility, pasted it in the proper folder of the game, and tried logging in and error 208 appeared.

    Do you know how to open a command prompt as administrator ?

    if win 10 press Windows key + X , then select command prompt (admin)

    in the black window type

    ping manifest.swtor.com

    press the enter key , does it respond or time out ?

    Looks like it is a routing error most likely , here is mine from Australia

    Any VPN will likely be a workaround at present, it should self resolve but when not sure usually think most sort within 24 hours.

    Thank you, sir! That helped me log-in and now the game is downloading. I do hope I get into the game as well. Greatly appreciated!

    Welcome Mate , it should get you in game as well , ping maybe a little higher then normal, I would think at worst

    I Hope it sorts for you quickly over the next day or so.

    I am having this issue all the sudden I can ping the server but get this 208 error, I was using open DNs even tried other DNS can still ping it but cant connect. every other online game I play is fine just not this one in the last few weeks, not sure when haven't gotten on that much lately
