How do I get the 64 bit client to download?

I came back after a break a couple of years long.

I'm using Win10 64bit.

I opened the browser, downloaded the install file, and started the install process.  When I got to the part of "Choosing where to install the files, I saw that it had chosen the "Program x86" folder (32 bit) instead of the "Program" folder (64 bit).

So, I changed the destination by creating a path in "Program" (EA > BioWare > Star Wars - The Old Republic).

The game installed.

I logged into my account and paid up for a sub.

I launched the game, and it gets stuck during the start up screen.

I uninstalled the game.

Now, I'm here.

How do I get the 64 bit client to install, and not the 32 bit client?

    I reinstalled the game.  This time, I let it install the game in "Program x86" (32 bit) folder.  The results were the same.

    I tried the fixes you suggested.  The only change was that it opened in a window instead of full screen.

    That's what my start menu looks like.  Sometimes it resolves in an octagon shaped pink field, instead of the big rectangle pink field.

    commonly seen when alt tabbing away from the game when its loading , that is also covered in the guide i gave you 

    • Screen is displaying a solid color before or at the character select screen

               Press ALT + Enter first to switch to window mode and back to fullscreen otherwise

                      Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor  and delete just the file called discachearena then start the launcher and login.

    So, I followed the steps you gave.  I get the same results.  After hitting Enter, the game starts minimized.  I maximize the game, and you get the graphic showing the Jedi/Sith/and Mandalorians.  Then the game menu comes up with that pink field.  I hit the Alt - Enter buttons, and it changes to windowed, with the pink filed.  Hit Alt - Enter again, I get the full screen with the pink field still showing.

    Now improvements.

    I am unable to find a "client_settings" file.  What path should I see it in?  I already have the "Hidden Items" checkbox checked, so I should be able to see hidden files.

    it should be found per the guide 

    Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time 

    Copy the following in to the text box and press ok 

    %localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings

    Open the client_settings.ini file in notepad

    I didn't realize it was the same file that I opened the other day.  I was looking for this file in the "EA > BioWare > Star Wars -  The Old Republic" folder.  That's why I couldn't find it a few hours ago.  I see that some of the changes I made have reverted back to what the

    By the way.  I made a strange discovery.  Earlier, I couldn't get the game to start.  So, I played Skyrim SE, using mods that were installed via Vortex (a mod manager).  After that, I started SWTOR again, and it started normally.  I shut the game down, restarted my PC and started SWTOR, but it reverted back to opening like the image I posted above.  Then I started Vortex,

    started Skyrim, and after playing a bit, I shut Skyrim and Vortex off.  Then I started SWTOR and it started normally again.

    There must be some condition that is set, when I turn Vortex and Skyrim on that makes SWTOR work normally.

    01 DxDiag 01 are the results after fresh PC boot up.

    02 DxDiag 02 are the results after starting Vortex (a mod manager).

    03 DxDiag 03 are the results after starting up Skyrim Special Edition.

    04 DxDiag 04 are the results after closing both Vortex and Skyrim Special Edition.

    05 Started up SWTOR. For whatever reason, this time SWTOR didn't start up. So, perhaps it was a coincidence.  Then, forwhatever reason, SWTOR only properly made it to the menu screen twice, allowing me to play on those two occations. The rest of the time, it wouldn't start properly.

    As for my monitor, I'm pretty sure it isn't a 4K monitor. It does have an HDMI connection, but the settings show that it is maxed at "1920 x 1080 @ 60 FPS."

    So, my monitor is being misidentified?
