I can't make purchases on the SWTOR website
Right after I click the 'Buy' button, I always get the following error message: "There was an issue connecting to EA services. Please try again later."

Means the Linked EA account is disabled , call swtor support they can help get this resolved
I am having the same thing. Though I can log into both accounts just fine. Did you ever get anywhere with it?
try a password reset if you do know the linked ea account
I changed the password to both accounts, but this hasn't changed the behaviour. When clicking the EA account link button, I see this:
And there doesn't seem to be a way to disconnect/reconnect
I wonder if its something to do with geo-locking. My account is a UK account, but I am in NL for work...
Yes location matters , VPN back to the UK should help
