Launcher hangs on login

I use the streaming launcher and it's hanging on the splash screen after I hit Play on my launcher. ☹️

Here I am twenty minutes into trying to log in again. No one has any suggestions?

Is the issue still occurring?  I know it's been a couple of days but just wanted to see if the issue was still happening?

I realize that this is a really late response; I forgot to check in here again to be honest. It still happens once in a while, and I'm not sure why. Sometimes it will eventually work if I leave it (or, rather, it will ask for my security key again since the one I entered the first time expired), but there's no set amount of time. Sometimes it only takes five minutes. Sometimes it takes ten or twenty. Maybe it would eventually work every time, and I just don't wait long enough? I dunno, but there's no reason for that to happen. It's gotten to the point that restarting the launcher does not always correct the problem, which is pretty irritating. 

It's been pretty bad again this week. Tonight it took five minutes to get around to trying to log in. I had to reenter my security key and of course it worked fine then.

I'd be inclined to think that this problem is local to you, if it were widespread, this forum would no doubt be full of such issues.

On a side note, I have been trying to install an operating system on a second PC but it is incredibly slow to the point of hanging, I know the problem is not with the manufacturer of the OS, it is something on my end that I have yet to fathom.

It is what it is, try running via clean boot. I am leaning towards an anti-virus or firewall issue in your case.

I've heard of some friends having the problem, but it's not particularly widespread, no. Thanks for telling me what I already knew. It's a real help, really. 

Still a problem. And yes, I do run the launcher as administrator. It's only been doing this since they updated the launcher to the new style a few months ago. 

I disabled my firewall as the first troubleshooting step, and since I don't run any antivirus software (is this 2005 or something?) there isn't any conflict there.

 I've highlighted the part where it appears to get stuck, but there's no good reason for it to do so, that I can see. It didn't have to download a patch, because I'm up to date. Whatever it did, it can take 5 - 15 minutes to try to do it. I usually give up and just restart after three or four.

Yep, and it certainly doesn't take five minutes to download it. Took a couple of seconds at most.
