See if this helps
Close the launcher and reboot the PC then right mouse click on the game shortcut and select open file location
delete the below if found
- "Patch" folder
- "Patcher_-1toXX" or similar folders
- "assets_swtor_XXX_XXX" or similar folders (do not delete the folder named "Assets")
Now close as many programs you have running in the background including Anti virus
Run the launcher repair utility here over the top of that install
Thanks for the answer.
It didn't work though, it downloaded the assets again and got stuck at the same point after.
background applications were off and anti-virus too.

In the game folder is a log folder can you post the latest launcher log
can try and identify which file this is getting bogged down with , other then that deleting the asset folder will likely help but doing that means installing 99% of the game again.

It isnt showing what file it is borking on unfortunately
if you right mouse click on the asset folder and then select properties , on the previous version tab is there a backup of this folder you can restore too ?
I hate to say this , it may be less stressful to delete the asset folder and re-download the game files
