Launcher Stuck

Hi SWTOR EA

My launcher is stuck on 99.54% in installing the new update....

I have let it update over night and saw it was stuck on 99.54%.

I have closed the launcher several times after that.

I see the speed moves but not moving in any %.

Yours Sincerly

You have two options. First close the launcher, then either:

    • Open the folder where you have SWTOR installed, and delete the BitRaider folder. The next time you start the launcher, it will check the files and automatically repair them.
    • Or you can get rid of BitRaider entirely and switch to the non-streaming launcher. That launcher has way less bugs but you will need to completely redownload the whole game again once when you make the switch. To deactvate BitRaider, you have to do the following:
      1. Go to the folder where you have SWTOR installed
      2. Open the "launcher.settings" file in Notepad (right-click → Open with...)
      3. Find the following two lines and replace them with:
        • , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
        • , "bitraider_disable": true
      4. Now save the file, open the launcher and it will start downloading. Now that you turned off BitRaider, you can also delete the BitRaider folder to save memory.

Let us know if you still have problems after this.

    Hallo again EA

It is still stuck, after I removed Bitraider folder.

Should I try the other solution or is it my connection?

I had the same issue, and after following Raidell's instructions for disabling Bitraider, it did re-download the entire game. While I found it completely asinine that the entire game had to be re-installed just from disabling BR, it is not all that surprising considering their history. We'll see how this solution works in the long term...

To clarify, step #3 needs the two items in bold to be updated in the "launcher.settings" file to read as:

    • , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
    • , "bitraider_disable": true

These are the steps I usually post for making the changes to remove bit raider:

right mouse click on game shortcut and select open file location

open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line and edit to the below

    , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
    , "bitraider_disable": true

    SAVE the changes.
Delete the BitRaider, Movie and Asset folders then start the launcher.

If you have only deleted the BitRaider folder you may need to go also delete the Movie and Assets folder as well.

Also you can add Swtor.exe and launcher.exe to your anti-virus and firewall safe / exceptions list in case they are blocking or deleting files.

    Hi again....

I tried to ignore the game for a week.

And now the laucher doesn't even pop up, but I can still see it in Task Manager.

I deleted bitraider folder and did what you asked.

    Nothing happens.

it is really annoying that I now only have the option to re-download the game, which I don't have data for.

    @KANGDK1

Run the launcher repair utility found here:

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/GUIDE-Launcher-Troubleshooting/m-p/4805820#2

Try to run again.  If you have removed bitraider as I described above, run a repair if it won't download:

Non-Streaming launcher - Log into the launcher but don't click Play. Check for small letters "ST" in the bottom left corner. If this is NOT present, With the new launcher after login , select the username pull down on the top right and select settings, then press repair.
