Launcher will not start, gets "Unable to load application configuration"

Any time I try to run the launcher since Sept 25th, I only get the error referenced in the subject: "Unable to load application configuration." I have been though many steps of updating and checking ...

Nope. SWTOR support gave me a couple other things to try relating to profiles and such. I'll report back.

Maybe consider an inplace repair

  In-pace repair is on my short list of "drastic things to try" this weekend. 🙂
  It's a toss up between that and a system state file restore from an August backup of the Windows folder.

    Sounds like you got a virus from some where a guild member had an issue like this after playing swtor since launch he could not load it turns out his PC was infected with a virus and a reinstall of the OS fixed the issue.
