If the Audio output changes after the game starts then directsound can have sound cutout and even cause game issues
I gather you have tried a game repair or tried a game reinstall
A link to a dxdiag per this guide, it would help to understand the hardware and drivers being used
game repair is greyed out in settings. Also, I can't find where to reinstall the game.
