Need refund for in-game purchase

So, I guess I made a mistake... I needed to buy a Stronghold (you can't use someone else's stronghold facilities if you don't own your own) and I guess I was in a bit of a hurry, because I must have clicked "use CC" instead of spending the 5000 credits. I filed an in-game ticket, first to find out why I was missing 50CC (I honestly didn't realize I'd spent CC on the apartment). When I was told that the missing CC went to buying the Stronghold, I asked the CSR to refund that purchase. Customer Service disappointed me, and said no. I asked for more information and a more favourable response, but got the exact same message back.

Now... let's consider a few things here.

Cartel Coins have a real-world monetary value; it's not like a accidentally double-clicked a medpac and bought two with in-game Credits.

50 Cartel Coins has a Credit Value (based on what Cartel Market items can be purchased with Credits) of about 25,000,000 credits.

50 Cartel Coins has a real-world cash value of about 60 cents USD.

Unlocking the first room of the Dromund Kaas costs 5000 credits.

Why would I spend 50 CC, worth 25M credits, when I could spend have spent 5000 credits?

Why is Electronic Arts giving me grief over, literally, 60 cents (when I'm spending 20 bucks a month)
....and why do I not remember a screen popping up to confirm that I wanted to use Cartel Coins?

Usually, there are fail-safes to make sure this sort of mix-up doesn't occur.

Come on, SWTOR, give me my 60 cents back.

  • I wanted to expand on this a little bit, just so that anyone reading has a better picture of what's going on in my life and why it's a big deal to me (after all, we're only talking about 60 cents here, maybe I should just let it go myself).

Things are not going well for me in the real world. My mother was recently given less than a year to live, and she has a lot of pain right now and no energy. My father has stated (perhaps planned?) that he does not wish to outlive her. As for me, I'm on the slippery, bleeding edge of poverty. I couldn't survive if not for the help of my parents, and SWTOR is the only vice I spend money on. When things aren't looking too good in the real world, my escape is to be an epic character in a galaxy far, far away a long, long time ago. When things are happening in my SWTOR time that just aren't going right... well, I have enough challenges to overcome in the real world, thank you very much.

So, anyways. This was a new character. I started fresh on a new server. Actually, I needed to make a character so that I could make a trade deal -500,000,000 of my Credits on Satelle Shan for enough credits to buy up my Galactic Seasons on Star Forge. Aside from the deal itself, absolutely everything went the exact opposite of smoothly. Apparently I selected a Boosted character instead of starting at level 1. If some sort of warning had popped up to ask me if I wanted to use a boost, I would have said no, I didn't intend to do that. However, I decided it was 'ok.' I wasn't sure if I'd use the character much, or at all, and I wasn't really saving my Boost for anything. So, ok, fine. Since I am a well established player on Satelle Shan, I have a wide variety of well decorated strongholds to choose from there... but on Star Forge I'm homeless. I put out a request for a 'spare key' to someone else's Stronghold and did secure guest lodging at someone's rather nice Nar Shaddaa stronghold... only to use facilities in a stronghold you apparently must own your own stronghold first. This lead to the purchase of a Dromund Kaas stronghold. I absolutely would not have chosen to use Cartel Coins if I was paying attention. If a warning had popped up to ask me if I was sure I wanted to use Cartel Coins, I would definitely said 'no.' The whole point of this character was to ACQUIRE Cartel Coins... not spend them.

Speaking of spending cartel coins instead of acquiring them... since I made this character in a hurry, and didn't spend my usual 10 minutes combing through the options, I'm probably going to be spending Cartel Coins to adjust her appearance. Again, the exact opposite reason for making the character.. but since I boosted her, I kind of feel obligated to use her. Oh, and I also chose a name I'm unhappy with so, unless I fall 'victim' to a name report I may be stuck with a name I don't want... unless I spend MORE Cartel Coins.

...so that's all my stuff. So, you can probably tell all the drama I'm feeling around this issue doesn't really have much to do with this specific issue, but fixing it for me would still make that drama go away.
