NodeSpecCache-unable to open NodeSpecCache for writing

Hello,
I'm pretty sure I've posted to this site before about this, but the suggestions I got then have only worked for half a year, it used to happen only once a year, and I was fine with that, all I had to do was uninstall and reinstall the game once a year, but last Sunday I got this error and uninstalled and re-installed, but I when I went to play the game freshly after installing it I got several hours into it, playing PvP with a friend, running heroics that sort of thing and it happened again. TWICE in 1 week. Something is ruining something, and I'm at my wits end.

I've scoured hours upon hours of sites stating that the Node Spec Cache error is BitRaider ******* up, some say its the launcher needing a repair. I HAVE DONE EVERYTHING.
I have deleted the .XFR files and the config files in the BitRaider folder and re-patched.
I have deleted the BitRaider folder ENTIRELY and re-downloaded the game.
I have even gone into the launcher.settings file and set it to disable BitRaider and deleted the Assets and Movies folders.
I have run the launcher repair and it "fixes" the issue for about 15 minutes and when I'm happily playing, my game freezes and I get a pop-up saying "NodeSpecCache is unable to be opened for writing."
I have checked my Firewall and have set Star Wars: The Old Republic to have full access through it.
I have gone through my Anti-Virus.
I have even gone to Uninstalling BitRaider from my System.

My Launcher is in the Streaming Mode "ST" and I'm currently re-downloading it since nothing seems to be working.
I love SW:TOR. I really want to play it, and I have finally Subscribed cause the new expansion that's coming, but I cannot play it with this issue... its unplayable for me, and I have no way to fix it. Please Help

To provide some context on "NodeSpeccache"

This is a windows error in that windows is stating exactly as said in that the cache files are unable to be accessed on the hard drive for some reason.

this can be caused by a number of things, ones that come to mind immediately are a full hard drive or incorrect windows security permission or say an antivirus locking the file.

Swtor has 3 cache files one is static and the other two are meant to be temp files.

Deleting the static cache is simple you go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor  and delete just the file called diskcachearena , a frech cache will auto create on the next games launch.

The other 2 cache files are called diskcachestatic and diskcachestream

if you press the windows key and paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\SWTOR\swtor\ if the files are seen there with the game closed delete them.

See if that has any affect on the issue firstup.

Edit - this was another thing mentioned by CS previously so worth checking - http://www.swtor.com/community/showpost.php?p=4743723&postcount=2

To check one more thing is your OS 32 or 64bit ? if unsure can you supply a dxdiag per this link

If your crashing is occurring on loading into a planet for example this is also worth checking.

  • My computer is a 64bit Operating System.  I'm not sure a DxDiag would help at this current time since I'm currently re-installing the game, after giving up because nothing seemed to fix the issue... its not a crash on launch its crash at moment in time that I'm not expecting.... (e.g. Middle of a Operations when I'm healing or tanking and/or middle of a PvP match)

That and when I do the choose file it says in big red letters that its an 'unsupported file type'

Also in the  %LOCALAPPDATA% there isn't a SWTOR folder, there is only a swtor_performance application

As a test create a new windows administrator account on that windows install and see if playing the game in that windows user account also has the same issue.

when i press the windows key and paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\SWTOR\swtor\  i get the below folders, which if you go into the settings folder contains the client_setting file as mentioned in this guide link , that location is meant to be created on the games first successful launch.
