out of range - Resolution Settings cleint_settings.ini

Hello

Before i discuss the problem, Here are my specs

GTX 970

16GB Ram

750 Watts

Asus p8z77v - lx

i7 3770

BenQ GL2450 (Max 1920 x 1080)

When i launch SWTOR, my Monitor says "Out of range!'

when i went into GeForce settings the game was Set to 2048 x 1536 Default Resolution.

I've heard about Client_Deafults.ini and Client_settings.ini or CFG

How do i change the Resolution without going in Game? since if i do, i have to restart my computer.

Help please!

Thanks!

What version of Windows are you running?  Also I assume you have the latest drivers for your graphics card installed

I am Running windows 10 and yes i have everything up to date.

    I read the "Appdata/locals/Swtor/swtor/Settings/

But i dont have SWTOR in my Locals, i just have SWTORPerf.

  • Hello,

Have you started the game already? (Launched it)

SWTOR should make an .ini file on the first launch and you can then (normally speaking) modify it through the game itself (normally no need to temper with the .ini file, you can change the graphics in-game).

The SWTOR folder with the client_settings file should be there...

Also please be aware of modifying such files if you dont know how to do that since it can cause problems.

This is from an older thread on swtor (http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=82780)

Please note that incorrect modification of this file can create problems with your client installation.

    1. Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time. (The [Windows] key is the key with the Windows icon on it)
    2. Copy the following in to the text box and press ok: \Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\
    3. Open the settings folder and then the client_settings.ini file in a text editor and modify the value for
      Height = x
      Width = x
    4. However, do not edit nativeheight, nativewidth or anything else for that matter.
    5. Save the file and try restarting the game.

    hope this helps

i have not run the game yet.

I have tried running it before.

It is now installing. when it fully installs i will try to look for the Client_settings.ini

if i am unable to find it, i will launch the game, but i will be unable to change Graphics settings in game since the default resolution will be Higher than my monitor can support.

Therefore after restarting my Computer ill look for Client_settings.ini And change the settings from there.

    Hopefully that works. (:

  • Also what i would try to do first is changing your default GeForce settings to 1920 x 1080 (if you can even do that, no expert with geforce), since this seems to be the maximum range your monitor has. If you are just installing swtor and do not launch i dont think you will find the .ini file since it is usually created only after the game is launched (it is with most, if not all, games). The

game needs to read your specs first before it can even create such .ini file.
