every one is having slow speed when downloading swtor even though only some have early access people are all downloading the patch so the can play tonight i have alot of friend that do just that start the patch before you goto work so tonight you just have to hit play. It slows down every one some patches are faster then other. Since BW just switch ISP if may be slower still.

The download is rate limited, and it isn't limited on my side.
If you look at the settings the peer-to-peer option is set to false. Surely it would be quicker if we could use a peer-to-peer.
I'd like to hear from EA/Bioware - if they are throttling it because of high usage, fine no problem. But I don't think that is what is happening.
At 512K it'll take a very long work day to download the patch and play tonight. When I checked mine at six this morning it was at around 51%. Five hours later it's at 81%. That parses out to sixteen hours worth of download. Not good.
I don't have any solutions, I'm in the same boat, and was for the previous patch too. Pretty terrible speeds. What's odd to me, is that despite saying 512K, and moving like 512K, the download is significantly affecting my internet connection; I see lag when I'm going to websites. It's kind of the worst of all worlds: a dead slow download that even so slows down everything I'm doing.
They knew this patch was being released, they had the same issues with the last one, I'm not sure why they didn't do more to resolve this issue.
Sitting at 75% myself... doubt I will be able to play tonight. ☹️

Patience is really a big part of keeping ones **** together on an Expansion Day.
For those of you who turned off your bitraider settings... it is going to be a long slow day for you all, call your mum, take her our for lunch or dinner while you wait.
For those who have p2p enabled don't forget in some parts of the world your ISP will leave you alone until you exceed 2 gigs in a single day then they apply filters to your connection to slow you down.. do you risk shutting everything down and starting again in the hope that it is fast?

Talk to someone without the need of a keyboard.
