Patch downloads says error says to do repair. repair gets stuck

I have downloaded the patch 7+ times over 24hrs.  I have tried turing off bit raider and deleting folder.

Repairing 20 files and its a slow download but then just gets stuck.

I have also turned off Firewall.  And read all the forums for advice.

Please help me Obiwan

Besides turning off the firewall you may want to also disable your anti-virus as well.  Both the firewall and anti-virus and block or delete files.  What I would do instead of turning them off is to add swtor.exe and launcher.exe to your firewall and anti-virus safe / exceptions list.

Since I'm not sure what else you have tired I'll go down the list of what you can do.  First if its getting stuck or running very slow try the following steps:

    1. Run the launcher and log in.
    2. Open the task manager on your computer (shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+Esc).
    3. Select the Processes tab. On Windows 7, sort by image name and look for any starting with "br", they should be listed as belonging to Bitraider in the description column. In Windows 8.1, scroll down to the Background Processes and look for any Bitraider listings. Right click and end them. Don't worry if they come back.
    4. Select the Services tab. In Windows 7, click on the button in the lower right corner that says Services. In 8.1, click the link at the bottom that says Open Services.
    5. In the Services window, sort the list by the Name column, and look for BitRaider Mini-Support Service. Right click on it and select properties.
    6. On the General tab, about halfway down, there should be a dropdown menu that says Startup type. Make sure it is set to "Automatic". Hit Apply the OK.
    7. Close the Services window, the task manager, and the game launcher. Then restart the entire computer.
    8. When computer has restarted, run the launcher and log in. The download process should now start properly.

Steps should be similar for windows 10 users.  There is also a thread about properly installing the game on a windows 10 machine found here:

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/Guide-quot-How-to-install-Swtor-Correctly-and-address-Windows-10/td-p/4851036

If the issue persists with the launcher, try to download and run the launcher repair utility:

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/GUIDE-Launcher-Troubleshooting/m-p/4805820#2

You said you also turned off bit raider, not sure how you did it but was it the steps below which will trigger a redownload of the game?  If not you can do this but only if the above doesn't work:

right mouse click on game shortcut and select open file location

open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line and edit to the below

    , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }"
    , "bitraider_disable": true

    SAVE the changes.
Delete the BitRaider, Movie and Asset folders then start the launcher.

Please let me know if any of the above does or does not work.  I know it's been awhile since your thread so I just wanted to follow up.
