Re: Game crashes when I click at all

Hello, I have had this same issue with two of my PC's. This game has always worked very well on both machines, but recently, I downloaded them after resetting each machine and installing Windows 10 (conflicting with Win7, did a clean reinstall). I finally have SWTOR working on the other PC due to not having the chip set installed (oops, lol), but the game still crashes once in a while. When this happens I just restart the game again and it works, so I'm not sure what the issue is there. Unfortunately I'm not around that machine right now, but can send snips to you if you like, but I feel that whatever is happening to that one is happening to this one too, so it's whatever. I have attached the event viewer error log and the dxDiag on the machine. This is not a store bought PC and doesn't have trouble with running any other game (I also play WoW, LoL, and many other PC games), my brother built this himself (same with my other machine, but they are set up differently so again, I can send that info if you like.)

It's really hard to find the information I need to fix this issue due to the vagueness of customer's responses, this was the closest thread I could find to my issue, so I'm not sure if it's related or not, but would still love to solve the problem that a lot of people seem to be having. Hopefully after looking at these two files we can determine what is causing the module path CoreMessaging.dll to fail, that seems to be where the error happens on both machines but I can't find the file to even look at it. I'm assuming it's part of the .exe file?

I appreciate your time and effort looking into this matter! Thank you!

  • Oh yes, please address darkwraith1023.

I have been having this coremessaging.dll error for weeks and have not found any information.

    Been pulling my hair out.

Here is my error report attached.

Oh, please... I'm just about begging.

I'm running same as darkwraith1023 above

    Nvidia 980ti

    All drivers up to date.

Any help at all would be loved.

Thanks for your time and thoughts

  • Thanks for the reply, it is really appreciated.

I have tried all of those things listed in both threads.

I still get the crashes listed in my crash report.

    A little more detail.

    It's always and only SWTOR.exe

    It's always coremessaging.dll

When the crash happens, there is usually a buzzing noise/or sound noise and the game freezes... cpu freezes.

Seems to happen when more when I play music outside the game, but not always.

This happens everyday.  Three or four times a day.

I have googled until blind.  Tried all the windows 10 swtor fixes uninstalled/re-installes, even did a fresh windows 10 refresh.

I stripped down Nvidia to just the graphics driver only.

And still .. and always it returns.

    Any other ideas?

Again, thank you for your time.

This thread is my last best hope.

Thank you for the response!! I didn't even think to turn off gamemode, lol, I forgot about that feature in Windows 10 as I typically rely on NVIDIA for that sort of thing. Good to know it was a simple fix and not the game itself!

    @Ippotamus

CPU freezes is something else I think

Have you placed the video card in debug mode per this link ? without a dxdiag hard to know the rest of your system however try using driver version 378.92 as well if you havent already

It is what I am using and I have no issues running swtor on win 10 creator

  • I went two days without the crash.  A record.  But it came back today.

    Here is my Dx Diag.
    Again, thanks for your time.
I'll roll back the driver too to see if that helps.

    🙂

Have you tried the clean boot ? (leaving bitraider enabled) I have a 6700K with a 1080 and no crashing on win 10 creator (me lucky me thinks)

I do have the shortcut set as below and I do NOT have geforce experience and the 3D drivers installed, just driver version 378.92 apart from that I am playing in fullscreen window mode

  • Thanks again,
I just crashed again with the older driver freshly installed.

My settings are the same excpet I was using Windows 7 compatibility instead.  I have changed that now.

I have only the driver installed.  Nothing else.

OK.. clean boot mode... I don't quite understand that.

Do I have to do that every time I run the game?

    Is that a permanent thing?

I understand the how to do it... but not the means of how often....

*Thanks again for the time,,, nobody has gotten me this far 🙂

    @Ippotamus

Win 10 seems to be hit and miss it seems, some have no issues and others like yourself get crashing, can only suspect it comes down to configuration, I have a lot of programs starting on boot but guess they dont cause an issue.

Clean boot can be used to see if it is something on startup causing an issue and then slowly enable things to identify what.

This Link describes clean boot , hope it helps

edit- as mentioned bitraider mini support service stub loader will need to remain enabled for streaming launcher

  • Well, let the fun begin it sounds like.  🙂

Thank you so much for your help.  Truly.

Even if an easy answer wasn't found.

I can at least continue to attempt to see what is wrong.

I will give this a try and see what happen.

  • Finally found the answer.

    Updated my BIOS.

After crashing/freezing multiple times every single day for months!  I have not crashed/frozen in days.

    Amazing.

Anyways, add that to the list of things to try.

Slowly going to start undoing all the crazy stuff I've done to try to get this working.

Thanks again for all your time and help.

    🙂
