That makes it look worse (and changes the way the visual artifact looks) but it's an acceptable workaround for now. Thanks so much for the help!

do you use reshade at all ? AA on medium is a known issue with reshade (there is a fix for reshade) 

if you dont use reshade this will be an AMD driver issue per sey , you could also try turning off AA in game and turning it on in the profile for the game directly or an older/newer video driver version

Nope, no reshade or even any of the tweaks that AMD has built in. Turning off antialiasing does not get rid of the black oval, either, though again that one is minor enough that I don't mind it much. 

Just turned on AMD's antialiasing after double checking that SWTOR's was off and it looks fine at first, but there are some problems: 



New visual artifacts on portraits (and probably other things too) and a weird glow around the outside top and left sides of the window. Turning bloom off eliminates the glow, but I don't really want to play without bloom so that's a no-go. I've tried a few of the different modes and they all do this, so it seems like I'll just be sticking with SWTOR's medium for now if I want to play GSF. Doesn't seem likely to get a driver update that fixes this as it's been going on since LotS dropped.

I guess it cant hurt to use the optional driver update available at AMD Adrenalin 22.8.2 Optional https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/amd-radeon-5700-series/amd-radeon-rx-5700-series/amd-radeon-rx-5700

If I try the optional driver update I will post an update here. For now I'm using the following settings:

This combo looks fine overall. The antialiasing is comparable to the setting I had it on before. There's still the black oval but no other visual artifacts that I've spotted. No performance hit as far as I can tell.
