Re: Keyboard locked to game

 I use the - key on the numpad to mute discord and it doesnt work when in game, also i use my G keys on my keyboard to mute my mic on obs, none of these work while clicked into the game and i have to click off the game to anything else for it to accept input

only reason i posted asking a question is my friend who i played with uses the same keys and they worked for him

whilst i dont use obs , i would expect if an obs overlay is active in the game and there is no conflict with the key bind in question, it should work

I agree it should, so if anyone has a solution or something i can check let me know, cuz its not.

is obs being run as administrator ?

Even if its not, the game locks everything to it including discord and other programs from accessing any keys, running those things in administrator mode wont supercede the game locking the keyboard to it

it has mattered with other programs i know that 

despite knowing it would make no difference i tried running things as admin, it doesnt affect that the game locks the keyboard from any input outside the game... so the problem is not solved by administrator mode... if there was an actual support where i talk to developers or coders to figure it out this might be helpful. but as a PC person when i said i had tried every single step that was obviously one of the steps tried... So i will wait for someone who works for them to get back to me

Maybe your in the wrong forum, best talk to obs, swtor support will not assist getting a 3rd party software program to work in swtor

The problem isnt obs or any other program. The problem is that SWTOR is locking my keyboard to its program, something that isnt happening to friends. so this is the only place it will be solved

try emailing support@swtor.com and see how you go, but if your friends not affected its not the game persey otherwise everyone will be affected by the same thing

In SWTOR this decreases the Minimap Zoom.

Did you make sure all the keybinds you use outside of SWTOR are not used (disabled) inside of SWTOR?

I did not, but my friend uses the same key without it being unbound. so it has to be something with the installation or something on my version of the game.

maybe worth checking what version of obs he is using, everyone has the same swtor version

OBS is just the example i used, it is also locking out discord and my windows hotkeys other than alt+tab. the problem for the last time, is with the game and not the other programs as they have all been checked throuroughly before coming here to post and ask.

If your friends is working fine and it is not a key bind conflict with keys like with the CTRL key as that key is hard coded for certain commands

I do appreciate your patience and help do not take anything I say or have said in the wrong way I am just getting frustrated.

The thing that is bothering me the most, is even after trying to boot it in safe mode and unistall and reinstall and every single step. Every time I open the settings it has 3 options for fullscreen exclusive mode, Fullscreen (fullscreen exclusive mode), Windowed (fullscreen exclusive mode), And Windowed-Fullscreen (Fullscreen exclusive mode). Now as far as I am aware fullscreen exclusive mode means keybindings that arent part of that game wont work. there is no way to disable fullscreen exclusive mode and the problem is 100% that and not some other magical fix im going to get by booting my game from administrator mode on some other profile... the problem is in the coding of the windows... so do i find a mod to fix that and unlock the window? because booting my machine in 100 different ways that i have already done isnt gonna change the fact that it says Exclusive mode on all of them.

Rant over... nothing directed at anyone but this stupid Exclusive mode that is the only form of the window i can have open.

press the alt + enter keys a few times to change mode 

otherwise do the below 

Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time 

Copy the following in to the text box and press ok 

%localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings

Open the client_settings.ini file in notepad and ensure the following are displayed within 

Fullscreen = false
D3DFullScreen = true

Check NativeHeight, NativeWidth, Height and Width ( all 4 ) match your monitor resolution.

Save and close the file.
Start the game as normal.
Change graphic settings within the game as desired.

 

this should be fullscreen (window) mode

never heard of a listing of exclusive mode is that displayed in the game ?

This is what i see in game, all three options when highlighting say what version of Fullscreen Exclusive mode do you want... i did try changing the settings but im still coming up with the same issue

quick google 

 Right click or press and hold on the EXE file of the app or game, and click/tap on Properties.

2 Click/tap on the Compatibility tab. (see screenshot below)

3 Check (disable) or uncheck (enable - default) Disable fullscreen optimizations for what you want.

4 Click/tap on OK.

I set this option and when the launcher runs it removes the option, i watched it happen actively it shut off the checkmark as i clicked to open the launcher

It also keeps disabling compatability mode when i launch it, and turns off run as administrator every time as well

ok support confirmed they are removing these at present on launch, more so for the compatibility modes was causing no server list for some

they are working on a hotfix so this functionality should be restored very soon, if that is causing you the issue shall see
