Re: SWTOR Security Key

The problem is that the "Lost your security key?" option does not pop up. The only message i get is LOGIN FAILED.

I do not understand why the "Lost your security key?" option does not come up. 

I live in Norway and when I tried calling the UK Customer Service, my call would either close or i would be redirected to the Norwegian State Road Administration.

I will try switching my Skype to the US and try calling their Customer Service.

When you leave the security blank and login with just username and password, it should go to a page asking again for the security code

The lost the security key is a small hyperlink not a popup it will be located just under where you enter key normally

Edit - if you get login failed then the password is likely wrong

Thanks for the info, but the thing is that i cannot reset my password without the security key.

If both issues quickest will be to phone

just in case the origin password and the swtor password are linked usually, so if you update the origin password then it will likely override any password set for swtor.

Edit - so could try resetting the password at origin .... there could be a delay between password synchs though

Thank you so very much. I checked if my Origin account is linked with the SWTOR account, and I remembered I changed password a few days ago. That is why the LOGIN FAILED message popped up.

I tried with the new password and i got redirected to the remove Security Key page.

when i try this method it doesnt show me an 'i lost my SK' button

what you are saying will not work for me i am sure i was typing in my password right but i guess i wasnt and i cant reset my password without my SK so i have to wait and hopefully support can help me tomorrow

I have the same problem, the "lost your security key"-option doesn't show.

The error now says "The CAPTCHA value could not be validated", but I can't find any CAPTCHA to enter.

I most likely had the wrong password saved on my current PC so it might be a lock-out.

Is the lockout time-based or does it have to be reset by costumers service?

I have my actual password back and the game gives the "lost your security key"-option but that link doesn't work, it sends you to http://www.swtor.com/support

which doesn't give you the option to remove you security key.

EDIT: Tried to log in on the site on another PC at a friends house to remove the security key. It worked, no CAPTCHA. Whether it was the different PC or they removed the lock, I don't know.

I'm curious about this.  I've read every post relating to security keys..  I've tried 3 computers, 2 operating systems, iphone, ipad, and android.  No matter what platform I try to log in from, my username and password work, emails are verified, but I don't get any option to send a one time code or reset the security key.  It just goes to the security key code page and says to contact customer service.  Even the original FOB doesn't work.  Frankly, I have no desire to call customer service and given the amount I've already spent on the game over the years, this BS just tells me it's time to support another developer.

It may of been a different web browser ? , have heard some browsers not internet explorer/edge do not display as expected.

For a long time I thought they had changed the system. It turns out you have to use the same password as the one used for EA and Origin. My Password manager still had a SWTOR-only password. If only EA had some more direct ways of alternative two-factor login (one time email, SMS).

Hello, I know this is an old thread, but I have an even worse problem and there seems to be no help for me anywhere. I deleted my app as well, but in order to reset it I need access to my very old email that I no longer have access to because yahoo refuses to help customers. I want to go back to playing swtor, but I don't want to lose all of the money I have already poured into the game. If there is anything you could do to help, it would be greatly appreciated

I'm having the same issue as the OP

I've not been given an option to create a "one time password" either..

Furthermore, I've tried the NA support number via my cell and Skype - I only get a busy signal between the specified hours..  

EDIT: Also attempted to reset my password, just because I figured it couldn't hurt (and who knows if the one I tried was accurate).. Of course I can't reset a password without the security key as well.

Dead game is dead(dead support..) situation or just really bad timing?  Help please?

Not sure what was going on with the US support line earlier, but it rang through finally.  Customer support got me sorted.

You are a * saint, I knew I had not changed my SWTOR password since last playing the game and could not for the love of god figure out why it was saying my password was wrong ... but I had changed my origin password. Thank you so much lol.

Is there any other way to get the security key deleted or is calling support the only option?

There are only two ways to remove it.  The first is going to swtor.com, click Login and then enter your Display Name, Password but leave Security Key blank.  Then click Login and on the next screen when it asks for your security key, click "Forgot your Security Key?" to then receive an email to remove it.  See this article here for screen shots.

If your not able to manually remove it the yes you would need to call Customer Service to have them manually remove it.  Their contact info and hours of operation are here.  If you have Skype, WhatsApp or another VoIP program, you can call for free or at a discounted rate if needed.

to be honust i thought about getting back into the game. but to see the support is this * i am going to uninstall again. i to am missing my authentication. its been years i used it. and i cant remember my password. why cant this game use the ea code like the rest of its stuff. get with the times. im not calling a help desk in some back watered place. you can set up the page so i can fix my own problem. or you dont get the extra players. your loss.

Having a 2nd account will not help 

if the auto removal isn't working for what ever reason, the only way to remove the security key is by telephone/voip to swtor support.
