update: game hasnt worked at all today, i flushed the dns, did all the ipconfig, rebooted in clean mode, turned off windows defender and the firewall, added the retial client launcher and bit raider to the firewall exceptions, did the same to windows defender and nothing works, i know for a fact it is not my ISP because my girlfriend can get on with no issues using the wifi and she can even log into my account, i spoke to swtor customer service multiple times about it and the issue still is not fixed, there is a program on my computer that is blocking the game and i need to know what it is, i already tried microsoft support but they did not help at all, so i need to know what windows services i can remove from my computer.
im adding a screen shot of what it looks like so you understand what i am talking about
Can you confirm that the game shortcut, launcher.exe and swtor.exe do not have any compatibility settings applied
Also just in case can you confirm your windows currency settings, only thinking of checking below due to the black screen
(Below is for win 10 , others are similar)
Press the Windows key and select settings
Go into Time and language, select region and language on the left
Click additional date, time & regional settings
Under region click the link for change date, time and number formats
Click additional settings at the bottom
Click either reset , or ensure . is decimal symbol and , is digit grouping symbol
Want currency to display as $ 1,000.00
- Anonymous10 years agoYes I can confirm that because I didn't set it, like I said I've gone through every step

- Anonymous10 years agoYes I actually checked stop acting like the customer service and saying things I should try when I told you I tried them already

Well good luck then, i do not have to assist you
- Anonymous10 years agoOk I told you all the troubleshooting that could be done was done a d none of it worked, I talked to swtor tech support, Microsoft tech support, I used every bit of advice on the forums and none of it worked, why are you not listening?

Confirm the DNS Client Service is running
Press Windows Key + R and type
services.msc
scroll down to DNS Client and ensure this is started and on Automatic
Also confirm you have added swtor.exe to the exception lists , you mention the launcher and bitraider only
- Anonymous10 years agoSeriously I have done everything and am not doing a factory reset, I told you there is some issue with a Windows service blocking the connection because the swtor tech said that I had gotta on via a proxy some how
- Anonymous10 years agoNow*
- Anonymous10 years agoI don't know that is what the tech said all I know is it worked 2 times but it took 3+ hours each time to get it to work and now it hasn't worked at all, and if you read what u have been saying you would know

What exactly is it your doing to get the server list to appear
If you want to keep being defensive in answering questions your doing yourself no favors
- Anonymous10 years agoWow ok read the last post I put about the proxy server and then go back and read the rest where I say what trouble shooting steps I did
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
A proxy server is a cache for port 80 and uses a different port
what proxy server are you actually using , ie what are you entering into the proxy field
If you do not want help with this just say so i have better things then banter back and forth trying to pull details

I like clowns...
Turning off Bit Defender doesn't always open the doors that it could have closed.. same with Windows Firewall.

i dont have bitdefender

Dude, you have someone offering you help, gratis, and you come off all defensive and stuff, when he is trying to go through the list of things your issue could be. Do not bite the hand that is feeding you, he is trying to make sure he's on the same page as you to help you fix your issue.
Remember, you are the person asking for help, there is not need to get nasty or be defensive, we aren't looking over your shoulder, and I know I personally can sometimes think I did everything off a long list, only to have someone say it instead of me reading it, and have a "doh" moment as I realize I forgot one little thing, and that ends up being what fixes the problem, and I'm pretty sure everyone else here has had similar moments, he is acting as fresh eyes that might see something that was missed through being upset about it not working, or from reading the same list a gazillion times.
You have heard the phrase you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, well, you get better help by being polite than by getting defensive. - Anonymous10 years ago
yeah i am asking for help but the person responding isnt even reading what i say, i said i have already tried everying swtor support said to to which is everything this guy is saying to try
