SWTOR: Can't chat at all

Question

Title. New player, non-subscribed, found out the only way to get support in-game was to be subscribed. Not exactly welcoming to new players with technical issues.

I was able to chat when I started the game last night, but now when I try to type in say, general, or whisper, it tells me only subscribers can use that chat. What the hell? Is this a bug or do you guys hate new players?

Swtor hates gold sellers , once you get over level 25 restrictions should ease

not sure, certain chats should work for you though like i think groups , but ones like general and whisper shouldnt

@proxos666 But why did I have no problem chatting yesterday up to level 13, and suddenly at 16 I can't?
