SWTOR Game wont launch after clicking the 'Play' button

Hi,

I downloaded the new SWTOR update that came out today, and my game wont launch after I hit the Play button. I have tried everything and the game just wont launch. It was working fine last night but when I downloaded the new update, it just stopped working. Is it just me? Please help, I love this game and this is very frustrating for me.

Thank you!

  • Hello All,

I'm having this issue now.  Last week I had an SSD failure which just happened to be my C: Drive.  My PC is only just one year old.  The PC Manufacturer immediately supplied me with a replacement (and upgraded) SSD which is now installed but I had to reinstall Windows 11 of course as I had lost everything on my C: Drive.  This also meant reinstalling many of my games on my 2nd SSD (D: Drive - Games) and 2TH HDD (E: Drive).  At this point in time I had not played SWTOR for a couple of months so I downloaded the new install, signed into the launcher, gave it my Security Key and let it go with the updates.  When they were complete I pressed PLAY and absolutely nothing happens.  The Play button dims but then nothing happens and if I click on the Play button again it just comes back.  I have not found any definitive answers on the internet which have helped me to solve this problem.  I'm using ESET Antivirus (just because its one of the best damned AV software out there).  I've tried activating Game Mode in ESET and still the SWTOR Play button does nothing.

    Any advice please?

    Kind Regards,

    Astral_Storm.

  • You Sir, are a genius of the highest order!!  None of the other posts I've seen related to this subject mentions this, and if they do its well hidden.  I downloaded and installed the Legacy DirectX drivers as you advised and hey-presto SWTOR is back up and running again!!  Many thanks!!

    Kind Regards,

    Astral_Storm.

  • Even today , this fix worked like a charm, just installed legacy DirectX, and now I'm playing.
