i have before i tried to run swtor i was trying to play a game from nexon and i was having this same issue.

If you did the repair install , then windows updates will be needed to be done again , ensure you get all the C++ and .net ones
- 10 years ago
ok will do, But here the thing what if that won't fix it? then what lol. because i had 4.5 net frame or the latest version anyway with all of the c++'s installed.
but as of right now it is downloading in safe mode with networking
- 10 years ago
ok it was nexon launcher and riders of icarus. that was the only other game i tried to play before swtor
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
what is odd is it works in safe mode with networking
When you go to the clean boot there is definately no other 3rd party apps running even the Antvirus or any motherboard apps like MSI afterburner.
Initial look both games use Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010 package but then why is it working in safe mode .....
sorry have to go
ok we can finish this later.
- proxos66610 years agoHero+

Did you try re-installing or repairing C++ 2010 just in case
- 10 years ago

can you post a dxdiag just for info per this link
Simple thing to do as well is right mouse click on launcher.exe in the game folder and select properties , go to the compat tab and tick run as administrator and click ok.
also if there is a patch folder in the main game folder delete it.
have to go again sorry after 10pm

There is a newer video driver at this link
Now I know the game will likely have issues with the below, wouldn't expect the launcher too though , as it thinks the monitor can do 1920x1080@60Hz yet its only running at 1366x768@30 Hz
Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (30Hz) Monitor Name: Generic PnP Monitor Monitor Model: SANYO LCD Monitor Id: SAN0B01 Native Mode: 1920 x 1080(i) (60.053Hz)
The CPU is near the bottom of the ability to run the game, but the launcher should at minimum still work.
Just to be 100% certain do you have a standard monitor available to test with on that system just in case there is some resolution issue with the launcher I am not aware of with the nvidia driver.
Short of doing a clean windows install there isn't a lot of options left from my perspective.
Given there is no indications of any errors to cause this, and given a new windows administrator account and running a clean boot doesn't help (unless something non Microsoft is still running ?). Doesn't provide any indication of why it is working in safe mode
- 10 years agoNo i do not have another monitor to try and use but, do you think there is some way to get a laptop to display my desktop onto tje laptop by hooking it through hdmi?
- 10 years agoOnto the**
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
Edit - unless you mean display your other system through the laptop then no
- 10 years agoOk if i try that then this works its great if not then need to re-install windows lol
- 10 years agoWell damn lol, thought that world work.
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
Try the updated video driver just in case there is some funky issue , other then that ....
I am not sure what else to try

if you got to the point of the game launching then I would say you need the below checked, but your not getting that far
In your case the Refreshrate will need to be set at 30 instead of 60 as pasted below
Press the [Windows] Key + [R] at the same time
Copy the following in to the text box and press ok
%localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings
Open the client_settings.ini file in notepad and ensure the following are displayed within
Fullscreen = false D3DFullScreen = false RefreshRate = 60
Check NativeHeight, NativeWidth, Height and Width ( all 4 ) match your monitor resolution.
Save and close the file.
Start the game as normal.
Change graphic settings within the game as desired. - 10 years agoOk jist changed my res to get refresh rate of 60mhz 800x600 got an error this time in normal boot lol unable to load application configuration
- 10 years agoEdit- just
- proxos66610 years agoHero+
there is another ini at C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor\retailclient called client_defaults , 800 x 600 is below the minimum resolution set of 1152x864 in this file.
That file should be on pressing play to the best of my knowledge though.
- 10 years agoStill didnt work just going to re-install windows thanks for all the help man was much appreciated.
