The mystery of subscriptions:

I'm a long time STEAM-user (1st account), started playing SWTOR (2nd account) in October 2022. Bought CC-packs and a SWTOR-subscription in December 2022 and January 2023 via STEAM-wallet without problems. Prolonging my subscription in February 2023 failed. This situation was already fixed by Support.

I understand, that the moment I created my SWTOR-account an additional EA-account (3rd account) was created (without me beeing aware of this?). I understand, the subscription in February failed due to a period (of 3 month?) of inactivity in that additional EA-account, based on some 'data security'-regulations. In the process of fixing, I learned, that since 2019 the SWTOR-account and its additional/linked EA-account don't synchronize (as it was before). I was told, that I am currently not supposed to log into that additional EA-account. I was asked Instead to periodically log into another dormant account of mine, that was previously used by/with ORIGIN (4th account).

Why is that? What's the reason for this? Why do I need a 4th account for something that either should get handled by SWTOR alone or in my case should be handled between SWTOR and STEAM. How come, activity in my Origin-account signals an status update to the SWTOR/EA-accounts especially in light of privacy rules / 'data protection'?

Account linkage is permanent between the swtor and EA account and both accounts used the email address on creation per https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-account-linked

if you were told the linked EA account is the EA dormant account , then that account was always the linked EA account to that swtor account

If you close or delete that linked EA account , it will break your swtor account per https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/account/close-ea-account

Deleting your EA Account will permanently break your Pogo or SW:TOR account.

edit: the linked EA account is required for purchases with swtor , so if the linked ea account is disabled for purchases , that also affects purchases on the swtor account

I am I correct in saying:

    1) Users that do not already have an EA-account will create one the moment they create a SWTOR-account?

    2) Users that already have (any kind/type of account with EA/ORIGIN or...) get the existing account linked to the newly created SWTOR-account?

In my case the new-SWTOR and old-EA use the same email-adress, so matching both may be simple. What would have happen, if I had different emails used on both sides?

How did the 'linking' happen anyway? I use different Usernames (Claire55 is not my SWTOR-name) and Passwords on SWTOR, ORIGIN (and STEAM).

And ... were can I see that link? Neither my EA/ORIGIN-account nor my SWTOR-account (nor this seemingliy different AHQ-account b/c different Avatar) shows eachother as 'linked'. Only my STEAM-acc shows on SWTOR (and vice versa).

    - login to your account on the swtor.com website (with your swtor.com displayname)
    - select "subscription"
    - bottom of subscription page select: "show your payment history", this will go to the ea.com website
    - on the top right you will see your ea.com account email address, this is your linked ea account

I tried doing that and it wont even let me see my payment history, it just refreshes the subscription page and says " there is a problem with your EA account and you cant make purchases until it is resolved" error message.

Thanks for letting us know that this does not work when the linked EA account is in a disabled state. I didn't know that.
