Windows 10 Game Won't Start - error 0xc000007b

Launcher opens fine, logs in, and downloaded patch just fine.  Click on Play and the launcher closes but no game starts.  If I try to run SWTOR.exe directly I get an 0xc000007b error message.

This seems like a problem many people have had and different solutions have helped multiple people.

I have tried every solution I could find on the forums and Google search. Updated/installed .NET Framework, DirectX, C++, repaired, clean boot, chkdsk, run as admin, all the compatibility modes, windows is up to date, and have the newest video drivers. ST Launcher.

My \appdata\local\swtor\ folder does not exist (showing hidden files - heard this is common if the game has never been successfully launched and this is a new install).

Had the same issue with Fallout: New Vegas (never resolved and gave up). Skyrim, Witcher 2, and KOTOR (1&2) all work fine.

Toshiba Satellite S-55C Laptop
Intel I7-5500U
NVidia GE Force GTX 950M 4GB (dual gfx with Intel HD 5500)
12GB RAM
Running Kapersky Total Security (haven't messed with this too much as the game downloaded fine and is marked as 'trusted' app and I even tried to launch the game after disabling Kapersky to no avail)
Windows 10 Home (came pre-installed on the laptop)

What am I missing? What other information do you need to help diagnose?

Thank you for any help you have to offer.

At this point it is best to ensure you are only using Toshiba drivers

latest here  are released a week ago , check your model is correct

With kaperskey there is a setting called scan secure / encrypted connections that has caused issues with this game in the past , maybe best to disable that setting, but it is not known to cause the issue you have currently.

Thanks, Owen.  Downloading Toshiba drivers now.  I'll let you know how it goes...

    *sigh

Ok. Kaspersky was already set to not scan encrypted connections.  Also, I added SWTOR.exe, launcher.exe, and brwc_swtor.exe to the exception list.

Updated drivers from Toshiba website - Intel driver  stayed the same (but I installed anyway in case it needed a 'repair') and NVIDIA driver went back to a slightly older one,

Installed DX Redist from the link you provided, Owen.

Deleted Bitraider folder to trigger repair, rebooted, started launcher, login, hit play, and....  Same old thing, launcher closes and game doesn't start.  0xc000007b error if I try to start swtor.exe directly.

I hate giving up because I really enjoy this game (haven't played since it has gone f2p, though).  Owen, thank you very much for taking the time to try to help, really appreciate it.
