Love the game, but the constant soft locks in combat are brutal

Just to clarify, this is specifically after pausing the game, letting the menu come up and waiting a few seconds, then unpausing it? 

Not mashing buttons and adding extra inputs, just the temporary pause and unpause.

I've tried mashing all the buttons (playing on PC). The only response is hitting pause and reloading a save.  You can let it sit for an hour and nothing happens. Just soft locked all day

I have encountered a similar situation on the mission for Cly to fight Kervis. After killing Kervis, the fight continuted. There was a situation where my game got stuck. Every minute or so the camera would move like it was trying to focus elsewhere, but largely it stayed like this despite pausing for a while and unpausing, etc..

Is this just a situation where no one takes their turn so you're just stuck waiting for a move that never comes, or something else?

Out of curiosity, can you try just pausing the game via Escape/Start/Options, etc. to bring up the menu screen for a few seconds, then close the menu again and see if it picks back up after another 5 - 10 seconds? I've run into a couple situations where things kick back in after that point.
