They're an issue if you're not in a guild that's completing CPit or if you're not doing hard mode conquest. That was my situation before I unlocked JMK - had to buy them with crystals. Impulse detectors I could farm scrap for, but Aeros were a problem.
You're right though - eventually you end up with a pile of them and IDs become the bigger hurdle.
