I can't wait to play with your characters once they're out of that game mode where they're absolutely useless. I haven't seen any way to discourage players from using certain characters other than the Colosseum. They really had to go out of their way to create something that would be so unpopular.
I am with CommanderBarcara on this one... I am actually super excited to try out some of these new characters on old teams. (Especially the Jaxxon one... I am one Relic Tier away from getting the prerequisites for Baylan!)
Personally, I'm looking forward to using the new toons once they have their full kits available outside of Coliseum. When in Coliseum, against the bosses, you don't often get a feeling they are very good. EA spent a lot of time creating a mode that creates such disdain. Was it on purpose?

I’m actually looking forward to trying Jaxxon with Young Lando on a Baylan team for cleansing. I am looking forward to MJS and JKL together at last. I want to see how well DJJ, Soda and Ronin work with Sidious and Concept Tank Trooper. Could be a lot of Hoopla, but here’s to hoping.
