You misunderstand.
IF there were 10k before the clone war and 100 after Order 66, then that means that 9,900 died from CW + 66 combined.
If "only a few hundred died during the actual clone war", well, a few hundred isn't half of 10k, so the vast majority of the damage was done by O66, and not any part of the CW, much less the Geonosis battle alone.
BTW: I'm not vouching for any of this. My nerdery lies in different directions than Jedi history, and I'll leave the accuracy of the statements to true Jedi historians... but right or wrong, that is what the @LordDirt comment meant.
