Jesus wasn't born December 25th, Luke 2:7,8 says "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night."

Jesus was born in the northern hemisphere meaning December was a cold month. Shepherds would not be outside, neither would sheep during cold months.
