Are we for real with the new GL.

so we are needing more r9 and more of r10 which is even not as easy to get.  having the 2 at r10 as r9 maybe makes sense but you got to slow down on what should be r9 and r10 for requirements. Boba fett scion of jango is not as big part of the story to feel as that r9 slot. and needing 2 r10 which is not 100% easy to farm for a good chunk of the player base without spending for era is a poor move.  Especially comparing to the first5 2 GL's and the requirements for them. it is already more expensive than PKHO and GLAT and we only have 3 of the 4 sets. the last set of requirements if it has an r9 or a r10 whoever made that choice should be removed from any decisions regarding new characters. the era system is already a whale fest to be able to get the previous and some of the characters needed just barely got farmable.

  • In relation to the requirements of previous GL’s at the point of their release this is still much easier to achieve in my opinion. It’s typical to have two of the max level relic levels. As soon as R8 and R9 released the next GL had requirements for them so I have had the mats stashed for a long time. But when R8 and R9 first came out they were locked behind high performing guilds rather than just your personal effort. It took us a long time to get a 280M guild to 340M with moves and inactivities to get the droid brains reliably, think years of chasing activity and difficult decisions in recruitment for various success and a lot of disappointment missing the sign up because of inactivity or losing the TW you finally scraped 300M sign up, many guilds were in this position. Chasing JMK required CPIT raid completion for R8 aeromagnifiers. I wanted him as my first GL when he released and it was painful because I purchased aeromagnifiers for one R8 with in game crystals (extremely expensive and took a long time) then pushed into a larger guild for the second which equally took a while. Since the raid economy changes, giving high relic materials, it’s obviously much easier now to save up in lower performing guilds for R8’s and R9’s, but also coliseum is not linked to our progress in legacy. I sit at top 20-60 and at anytime I have had 2-6 R10’s ready to pop, I even use the currency for other high relic mats and sit on relic scrap for several R10’s at a time. The bottleneck now is sigils rather than high relic scrap, with more ways to speed up than ever before. For anyone at my stage where all my legacy characters are relic, I have so much gear to scrap for relic mats. Everything is farmable everyday to chip away. Making it much more easier to progress.

I suppose the best test for this, and it’ll be tough to determine, is whether a true end-game player (and I mean real end-game) can unlock the newest GL in a similar time after release to those previously and with similar cost. If that’s the case and the reqs are advancing with gear/shard/etc economy then that’s just the new reality.

It’s certainly true that unlocking any of the older GLs is much much faster than it ever has been before. I expect the rate of unlock in the few months after release will show.

  • Don't see an issue with the reqs. Stiffer than normal but for the first time it'll be a day one GL for me.

So the above isn't probably much help........well it is, basically if you find the new shiny stuff reqs hard to get then they probably aren't for you yet. However over time that will improve as I found in that the  last GL took me 3 months to get after release, a year later my account has grown to change this.

Seems to be the age old issue that some players don't realise that not all new content is (or should be) immediatly accessible to everyone.

Also, I’d be interested to know if the LSTs from era currency are making up for the investment in colosseum (yes, I know that’s not how it’s spelt in game but it’s how the OG is spelt). If it’s the case that what previously would have been slow progress over weeks from gradual crystals use is becoming an instantaneous boost once an LST is earned then that’s probably a fair trade.

I was in a position where I was just about up to date with GLs, Legendaries and Conquest chaps (I finished off JMMW before the first Era legendary was active).  So, LSTs aren't really relevant to my situation.  I also have all the new GL's requirements at mid relics already (bar old man Boba).

My initial plan was to keep up with the relic requirements when they were published, but unfortunately they haven't been even close to the top of my relic levelling priority list.  And as the cadence of releases isn't going to slow down, there isn't much chance they're going move up the list either!

Now this is an interesting tangent.

I too feel like non-era farming is slightly slowed by needing to have crystals for the era character packs. But, at the same time I’m tending to get all the new era toons at 4* and G12+, so it’s not as though the crystals are going nowhere. As a returning player I definitely feel (YMMV) like I'm sacrificing chasing older JG characters for more progress with era toons.

  • My main issue, isn't the relic level of the requirements; it's when am I going to be in a position to do them.

Before the Era...era started, my farming cadence was quicker than the release cadence.  However, now with a Legendary (and its 6 marquees), a Conquest unit every 3 months, the extra few characters to make these teams work, the extra buffs to make datacrons work at level 9s — I haven't been in a position to even start the requirements for the GL (playing the way I'm playing).

  • You are aware that this is a very deliberate choice, right, and not one they are going to go back on. Each GL has increased reqs over the last. Each time they need more of the highest and hardest to reach materials. It’s what drives their business model, and unless EA changes that then there’ll be no change for GOH.
