@John_Matrix1985 Yea, haha, I can imagine it. Let's see here...I'm just gonna set my alarm for 3:15 a.m. so I can get my arena battles in for the next 45 minutes, then go back to sleep for a couple hours before work. No thanks. I guess things could always be more absurd.
@JinSaotome I don't disagree that sniping/clock blocking takes strategy. There are at least 5 people attempting to get numero uno at my payout and I have utilized sniping to achieve the top spot successfully several days in a row. I used to never use crystal refreshes and just let the cards fall where they may, but then I was just gifting crystals to jerks who don't even try to play around me in the lower positions, even though they know we are on the same payout. To me it just seems like common decency to avoid shardmates in those positions. I understand doing this at the very top ranks, but it's completely unnecessary below rank 10. Their actions forced me to aggressively target them at every opportunity. So much so that I don't even care if we get locked in a back and forth battle in the lower ten, as long as they aren't permitted top payouts. It's just stupid. This is not the kind of strategy I want to be successful at. I want to strategize hero setups, not whether or not I can outsmart them in buying clock blocks with crystals. It's not a matter of winning on offense. With a small variety of quality heroes, you can pretty much always win on offense. And pretty much everyone I battle against in the top 5 has better mods than me. The thing is, when you clock block you aren't only holding your position, but you're often preventing an innocent bystander from getting their last battles in because once they're locked in battle with you that 5 minutes is gone and they are stuck. I guess that's the point too.
I'm definitely thinking the 45 minutes spent in arena is a pitiful waste of time and I don't like the idea of being forced to be a jerk to get the top spots. I understand there has to be losers, but not for this kind of asinine reason. Also, I think there is a big difference between having 5+ people or having 2 people also vying for the top spot. Who cares if you get a 3rd place payout every day? I'd be happy with that. It's 400 crystals, which is the same amount as a number 1 payout (with two refreshes--the minimum required to hold the position when there are so many people going for it), and you don't have to refresh or be a jerk to achieve it.
Thanks for your opinions, guys.
