It is not likely to be done in a big movement, but we do see them testing the waters with story line events and adding lore into some events too.
As far as making the game fundamentally different, no that's not going to happen. This is a collection and turn based fighting game. The base of the game is the cantina where these toons are just holograms not the actual characters from lore.
