This drought has not ended. I continued to have 0 shards through Saturday.
Called EA Support, and they told me they would investigate my issue. In the meantime I was sent a KB on how to reset my iPhone, close my apps, etc. WOW! Big help!
But to be safe, I did reboot my iPhone, etc. The only thing I refused to do was delete and reinstall the App as there is a big warning "you may lose your game data."
Starting Sunday (8/7/16) I have received a total of 4 Shards. 1x Anikan, and 3x Lando. (Maybe less)
I switched to Lando to see if that would help. Yay! Getting shards. BOO! The drop rate is insanely low. I am easily closing in on 1000 energy and have 4 shards to show for it!?!
Something is terribly wrong here.
