I saw this coming ages ago.
It's a whole bunch of low-value gear which is nice to use up - and I'm glad CG gave us somewhere to use it - but yes, it was built up over 4 years. We were obviously going to burn through it and run out.
When the new raid finally drops, hopefully it will grant 100-120 carbonite per player in the 21-30 range and no less than 60 carbonite for the 41-50, preferably more like 75.
This assumes the the raid is ticket-intensive, a bit more than HSTR (so about 130k-140k tickets per heroic attempt), and therefore an average guild will be doing one per week and highly active guilds will be doing one per 5 days. If the raid requires fewer (or more), they can adjust the carbonites to scale at a rate of about 25 circuit boards per 30k tickets required.
If they do something like that (which they obviously should) to fix this unsustainable problem, then we just have to last another 6 months with our current stores. For whales, they've probably run dry already. For many of the rest of us, that's either not an issue at all or it's at least reasonably manageable.
