Where does 27 come from? There are about 170 characters in the game. Divided by 5 you get 34 "squads". This doesn't include ships.

Squads by title. e.g. Clonetroopers, Nightsisters, Jawas, etc.

The Galactic Republic "squad" plus the Rebel "squad" account for around 58 characters out of 170.

No, not 6 factions; 6 squads. 6 squads maxed at your discretion would be my minimum suggestion as it's but a sliver of all potential squads available. The fun part would be deciding, because as you say, one could form a Rebel Squad while omitting over 90% of all Rebels.

Mixing terminology like faction and squad makes you seem like you're all over the place. And your other random declarations on charity don't help either. While I'm not opposed to making some things easier (I believe I once posted that I'd be in favor of doubling the drop rate on older or unnamed characters like Resistance Pilot and Trooper) the philosophy you're espousing is likely a non starter with a for profit company. Most people can differentiate between a squad and a faction, but if this is too much for you maybe we can start with the fact you just put down my efforts at charity while espousing your own. Some people would call this hypocrisy. I'm willing to say you need some vitamins.
