Chasing meta in the GL era

With the first 2 GLs, it was pretty clear that you needed only one to stay relevant in arena. One could beat the other one, both could beat any other previous meta.
With JML and SEE, it shifted a bit; only one was enough if you had Rey or See to stay relevant without trouble, but JML had a hard time beating SEE and See a hard time against Slkr (if I’m not mistaken). So only the new meta wasn’t enough to beat all previous meta without trouble.
With the new ‘one gl at a time’ approach, we see that jml+cat are able to beat all previous meta with ease and old GLs have a hard time against them(more or less depending of the GL).
So, will they still be released in pairs from now on, so it should still be enough to unlock one to stay relevant (as long as you have some GLs leftover from previous metas, so in this case Jmk or one older GL should be able to take on LV without much trouble) or is it back to ‘new character is top of the meta’ ?
I’m not excepting a ‘you don’t need to farm LV is you have Jmk’ answer, but a explanation of your vision of the ‘GL meta’ now that’s it’s not a ‘here are 2, pick one they’re about the same strength and can beat each other’ situation anymore would be appreciated.
