I'm of the opinion that ....
1. We didn't need a Pirates faction. But whatever, a single team wouldn't kill us.
2. We absolutely did NOT need a Pirate GL.
3. IF we are forced into a Pirate GL, and, based on the announcement, we are, THEN, well, Maz Kanata is the ONLY one that I would be happy about or deserves a GL level character.
Every other option I've seen discussed anywhere isn't a character I'd want to see or believe is "GL" quality.
But, 1000+ year old "QUEEN of the Pirates". Well, that I could at least get behind.
The pirate faction can bring two more potential Ugnaughts to the Holotables. So it can also bring back the unfairly eliminated Ugnaught faction. That's good! The truth is that there are many other possible Galactic Legends before a pirate (no one can guess for sure who it will be?). And yes, Maz Kanata is the queen of the pirates and all, but she doesn't really have enough lore to be a Galactic Legend... maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion, Saw would deserve it long before her. Besides, Saw already has a "wooden leg" and a cane like a real pirate... The Saw we saw in Rogue One lol
