what ever happened to being concerned about QOL and engaging content. This latest journey quest was the worst! There is no node with more than two smugglers. So I got to do the same boring battle ...

Although I can somewhat agree with the concept, to a point: "Is CG concerned with QoL anymore?"
However, picking on these Journey Quests is extremely harsh, in my opinion. Yes, this last batch was a little monotonous and very grindy, but almost everybody looks forward to these. Many of us (OK me), are enjoying visiting the Journey Guide to find ways to complete these feats.
I think it's one of the more fun PvE things CG has done! Different horses for different courses, I guess!
If completing the quest required skill, I would agree with you. Repetitive nonsense is trash, no creative input from the game developers.
