Crowd-sourcing Cantina Node Droprates

I am trying to put together a farming spreadsheet to share with the community. One question that I have yet to see good data on is the shard drop rate from cantina nodes. Everyone seems it agree that it is 33% across the board. I'd like to get some real data so that I can verify if this is true or not, especially after the new QoL update that is supposed to address drop rates. Please, when you do your cantina farming, just keep track of how many runs you did and how many shards dropped and then fill out this short google form and let me know what you got.

Thanks

@sneeekypants did one recently, and I'd be surprised if @EventineElessedil doesn't have a ton of data on the subject.

Ha ... I have considered it, but concern for my sanity keeps me from getting too involved. I already spent a ton of time and effort deciphering GW. Instead, I just assumed 30% drop rate to predict the number of shards I should get per day (depending on energy refreshes) and use that to determine how long it should take to collect the number of shards I need. In the long run, I feel it is an accurate representation.* This is good enough for me.

    * But when I farmed up RG from Cantina, it sure felt like a very high drop rate. But ... no data recorded *shrug*.

I share your GW data all the time. I know what you're saying though. I just assume it's 30% for shards, and base my projected time off that, and it's pretty accurate. I started TFP on alt and main at same time, and 7*'d them within a day of each other. That's enough conformation for me

I'm a very new player (10 days) and so spending most of my cantina energy on chewbacca to get him to 5*. I find it very streaky sometimes I will sim 8 or 10 rounds and get nothing, other times I can go 4 for 4.

That said, say I get around 20 runs a day x 10 days and I only have 51/65 shards. That shapes up to roughly 25% in the short term. So I'd believe 1/3 or 30% overall.

@DarthBrobdignagian Welcome to the game! So when you get Chewie to 5*, just leave him there for a while and go get Lando instead. You can gear Chewie, but you can safely leave him at 5* while you get a more useful character.

Thanks! And that is the plan! Just need to get a little more oomph out of him to get thru these level 45ish war teams.
  • I agree, this method would be incredibly biased.

I stopped at 2,000 because I felt it was enough to see patterns evolve. They are also close to what I've seen others publish so it was enough to satisfy my curiosity and angst when getting a string of bad drops.

I'm still curious about whether they are dynamic but it would take a much larger data set with a lot of variables recorded w every drop, far too much effort for a recreational activity.

Someone did this earlier.. (I forget who) :/

Does anyone remember?.. he ran it for a month and maybe would be neat to at least compare the data if not aggregate it.

    Here's one:

And here's one that the esteemed @cosmicturtle333 did almost a year ago - same drop rates:

Far out its been a long time. My cat that was in that photo is dead now

It's nice to see I'm still 'esteemed' though
